REALTORS® who do not learn to understand and better assist Illinois consumers with mobility, vision, cognition and independent living issues risk losing more than 19 percent of the population to competitors who do, according to a REALTOR® Mag story “Better Service for Clients with Disabilities.”

The story cites the 2015 Centers for Disease Control study which estimates that about 22 percent of U.S. adults have a disability. The study gives figures for each state, though the study does not include hearing issues.

As the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act nears (April 11), the National Association of REALTORS® urges members to gain a better understanding of the needs of home buyers and sellers with disabilities.
