Opening celebrates victories for national association, honors member input

Illinois REALTORS® kicked off a first full days of business meetings and learning Thursday at the REALTOR® Conference & Expo in San Francisco.
The meetings, which cap the governance year for the national association are packed with committee meetings, a trade show and sessions on everything from future market conditions to the Impact of technology on real estate.
The formal start of the session, NAR 360, featured updates on a year of initiatives at the national level.
“We want you to feel the value of your membership,” said 2019 NAR President John Smaby during the event.
Smaby used the analogy of remodeling a house to describe the many changes that NAR has introduced in the past year.
Among the highlights:
  • Updating the NRDS system to better serve data that members and associations can use.
  • Sharpening NAR’s focus on advocacy, including being a leader in discussions on GSE reform.
  • Celebrating more than 35,000 members who have begin the C2E (Commitment to Excellence) program.
  • And finishing much of a massive building project at NAR’s association headquarters in Chicago.
The conference runs through Monday, ending with the NAR Board of Directors.
