Illinois faces a shortage of more than 142,000 homes, and the gap is widening. Without action soon, the housing shortage could more than double, putting additional pressure on affordability and economic growth statewide.

Illinois REALTORS® have already heard from mayors and local leaders across Illinois who are ready to act. In Central Illinois, Governmental Affairs Director (GAD) Kristie Engerman and REALTOR® members, including Past President Jeff Kolbus, have promoted the Accelerator Playbook in the following municipalities:

- Washington
- Pekin
- Bloomington
- Normal
- Heyworth
- Chillicothe
- Pontiac
- Bartonville
- Oglesby
- Quincy
- Peoria Heights
While Central Illinois seems to be the most receptive region to increasing supply thus far, GADs are working with dozens of other municipalities across the state to implement our Housing Supply Accelerator Playbook in community planning and development.
