Illinoisans who order free COVID-19 at-home rapid test kits from COVIDtests.gov can expect them to be delivered to their homes by the U.S. Postal Service within two weeks, according to the Federal Trade Commission.

Consumers will not have to supply any credit card or bank account numbers and there will be no shipping charges. A maximum of four tests will be sent to each household.

In addition, the kits can be ordered through a toll-free number, 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489) or through special.usps.com/testkits.

The U.S. government will not call, text or email you about the kits. If this happens, and someone asks for a credit card, bank account or Social Security number, do not respond. Instead, report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
