The REALTOR® Association of the Fox Valley (RAFV) found multiple opportunities to help the Salvation Army this holiday season in Aurora and Elgin.

On Thanksgiving morning, 21 RAFV members visited Salvation Army centers in both cities to unload frozen turkeys, pack meal boxes and organize donated food.

RAFV volunteers helped needy children enjoy Christmas through the Angel Tree project.

In December, the RAFV volunteers – or the “blue angels” as they were often called – hosted an Angel Tree at the RAFV office. Members could take a tag and donate toys and clothes to help fulfill a child’s wish list for Christmas. Several offices and members combined to fulfill the wish lists for more than 75 children!

Then, on Dec. 20, more than 40 RAFV volunteers spent the day at the Aurora center and the Elgin center helping with their toy drives. They spent the morning and much of the afternoon helping to distribute toys, clothing and food to local families. The Aurora center served 920 families and the Elgin center served 380 families and 978 children that very day alone!

“We are so blessed to have the opportunity to help the Salvation Army in such a meaningful way,” said Lisa Ayres, RAFV Director of Communications and Social Media. “We are looking forward to helping them again in 2018!  Happy Holidays to all from the REALTOR® Association of the Fox Valley.”
