Harvest time in Illinois

Agricultural real estate plays a significant role in Illinois’ economy.

With more than 72,000 farms encompassing more than 27 million acres, farming in the state generates $19 billion annually, according to the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Among those tracking farmland prices is Luke Worrell with Worrell Land Services in Jacksonville. Worrell is president of the Illinois chapter of the REALTORS® Land Institute, and from that position has a good sense of how the market is performing.

He recently spoke on the Illinois REALTORS® Podcast about current market conditions and the impact a extraordinarily wet spring has had on the agriculture sector.
