Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County has selected the family that will move into a new home being built this summer by Illinois REALTORS® as part of an effort to show the Power of R.

Rachel Creighton and her four children, Grace, 10, Joslyn, 5, and twins, Rocky and Broady, 2, will move into a new home built by Illinois REALTORS® as part of a Habitat for Humanity project in Springfield this summer.

Rachel Creighton and her four children will move into the home which will be built at 2210 E. Enterprise St. in Springfield, Habitat said in a release. The home is expected to be completed in late June.

The Springfield Habitat project is one of three scheduled in the state this year to be built by REALTORS®. A Habitat house is slated for Murphysboro beginning in April, and another will be built in Aurora as the Springfield project wraps up.

Phil Chiles, president of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®, set the goal of building the homes at his October inaugural in St. Charles. Chiles is a Springfield homebuilder and REALTOR®, and has a long history of working on Habitat for Humanity projects.

According to Sangamon County Habitat, the Creighton family’s home will be the 95th built in the area by the organization which relies on community donations and volunteer labor. The home will give the family a chance to realize the American Dream of homeownership.

Said Rachel Creighton in a release from Habitat: I want to own a home so I can do regular things like paint the walls if I want to — stuff that homeowners do.”
