REALTORS® have until 5 p.m. Feb. 28 to apply for the Volunteering Works Award, offered by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).

The program provides five recipients a year of one-on-one mentoring from a member of the Good Neighbor Society and a $1,000 grant to help improve a community program. REALTORS® who work on small-scale charitable efforts that have growth potential are encouraged to apply using this entry form.

“REALTORS® are volunteers in virtually every community around the country — bringing hope and assistance to their neighbors, one person at a time,” said NAR President John Smaby, a second-generation REALTOR® from Edina, Minnesota and broker at Edina Realty. “NAR supports those volunteers by offering guidance and mentoring assistance to ensure our members continue admirably and selflessly helping those around them.”

Past recipients of the annual NAR Good Neighbor Award make up the Good Neighbor Society. The Good Neighbor Award winners receive $10,000 grants for their charities, as well as national and local publicity for their cause. Winners will be flown to the annual NAR conference, where they will receive their award in front of thousand of fellow REALTORS®. Learn more about the Good Neighbor Awards, which have an application deadline of May 10. In 2018, two Illinois REALTORS® received honorable mention status in the program: Jack Persin of Baird & Warner in Naperville and Michael LaFargue of Coldwell Banker Residential in Chicago.
