The first day of the Illinois REALTORS® 2024 Winter Business Meetings included numerous workshops, forums and committee meetings, peppered between sessions with national speakers and trainers. The day ended with the always popular RPAC Celebration and Auction.

‘Ignite Unstoppable Momentum™ in a rapidly changing world that never slows down’

Keynote speaker Kim Becking kicked off the 2024 Winter Business Meetings on an upbeat note by sharing stories of perseverance in the face of personal and professional challenges. She revealed tools that can help REALTORS® stay focused and highly productive, overcome stress, and use optimism, hope and action to adapt to an ever-changing world.

Noting that “our minds are wired for negativity,” Becking said a healthier mindset focuses on learning from failures, finding effective ways to recharge and by  replacing negative words and phrases with more optimistic ones, especially in the way you talk to yourself. “How you show up for yourself and others matters.”

‘Business Plan Reboot: Simple systems for sales success’

Top-producing real estate agent, trainer, coach and author Marguerite Crespillo told REALTORS® how to build their businesses around their lives instead of building their lives around their businesses. Citing some of the lessons she learned from 30 years in the business, she advised attendees how to boost their sales in the new year .

‘You can’t say that! Antitrust in Real Estate’

Dynamic attorney and educator Trista Curzydlo, Esq., legal counsel for the Wichita Area Association of REALTORS® and the South-Central Kansas MLS and a former governmental affairs director, explained the relevance of REALTORS® avoiding antitrust behavior in every transaction and in everyday activities. Curzydlo also referenced antitrust accusations that have been part of recent class action lawsuits against some brokerages and the National Association of REALTORS®.
