The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) announced NAHREP-Chicago as its 2019 Chapter of the Year Thursday on Facebook Live.

“It’s not my success. It’s the board’s success,” said NAHREP-Chicago Immediate Past President Hipolito Garcia. “It’s because of our members, our people.”

It is the second time that Chicago has won the national award, said NAHREP President Sara Rodriguez, noting a previous win in 2016, when REALTOR® Joe Castillo was president. Chicago scored well in several metrics, including membership growth, event attendance growth, event profitability, national event participation and partner value for members.

“This is one of those chapters that comes in droves to every national event,” said Rodriguez, who added that the entire Chicago Board of Directors is in the national top 250 in sales and still finds meaningful ways to participate in national and local events. “You have some really engaged members.”

A collaborative spirit is also an important quality that NAHREP-Chicago members seem to embrace, said Rodriguez.

Even though the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has forced the postponement of several recent NAHREP-Chicago events, the association is tentatively planning to move a few events to the fall, said 2020 NAHREP-Chicago President Ivonne Payes.

In addition to the chapter of the year award, NAHREP-Chicago was one of three chapters recognized for its support of a newly created National Advocacy Committee. The other chapters were San Diego and Greater Houston. Also, NAHREP-Twin Cities was awarded NAHREP’s 2019 Rookie of the Year award.
