Nearly 4,700 Illinois REALTORS® have answered a Call for Action seeking to kill efforts to implement Rent Control in Illinois.
Issued late Monday, the 4,679 respondents in less than 48 hours represents one of the highest participation levels in a statewide Call for Action in such a short period of time, said Neil Malone, director of grassroots and political programs for the state association.
As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, respondents were closing in on representing nearly 10 percent of the association’s 50,000-plus membership. (Take part in the Call for Action here).
There are at least four bills pending in the Illinois General Assembly which seek to implement Rent Control. The association sees Rent Control as an affront to private property rights which, if the policy is implemented, would hurt those seeking affordable housing.
