Illinois REALTORS® who are refining their leadership skills or pursuing one of five real estate designations have until Oct. 1 to apply for two scholarships that could help them financially.

The Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation (REEF) offers the Roxanne Malo Leadership Scholarship and the Past Presidents’ Scholarship.

The Malo Scholarship was established as a tribute to Malo’s personal commitment to REALTOR® leadership. Each year, the fund provides one or more scholarships of up to $500 for the continuation and expansion of leadership skills in a real estate related field.

The Past President’s Scholarship provides $500 to an Illinois REALTOR® who is pursuing the following designations: Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) as undergraduate only, Certified Residential Broker (CRB), Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) or REALTOR® Association Certified Executive RCE).

In addition, REEF accepts applications on an ongoing basis for the:

  • Illinois Minority Real Estate Scholarship Program – open to qualified racial minority residents of Illinois either pursuing courses of study that will prepare them for real estate related careers or will enhance their skills and knowledge if they are already real estate professionals.
  • Rich Port Scholarship – for licensed Illinois real estate agents to complete undergraduate courses through the GRI.
  • Illinois Education & Training Grant – for students pursuing a real estate degree or real estate license in Illinois. It may be used for the Illinois REALTORS® D2L online courses or any Illinois REALTORS® live classroom course.
