The REALTOR® Association of the Fox Valley (RAFV) found multiple ways to help needy families in local communities in November and December.

For example, more than 100 REALTORS® pitched in at several Thanksgiving food distributions and Angel Tree Toy Drive events for Salvation Army chapters in St. Charles, Elgin and Aurora. The association also donated money to each organization.

RAFV volunteers also collected clothing, food and gas gift cards for local needy families at the following charities:

  • CASA Kane County,
  • Forgotten Initiative,
  • Tri-Cities Family Services,
  • Lazarus House and
  • Random Acts Matter.

The gift card collecting is part of a year-round campaign by RAFV members that’s called “House of Cards.” The theme behind the campaign is “helping families who need it most create a sense of home.” Members can make gift card donations at RAFV events throughout the year, says Lisa Ayers, director of communications and social media for RAFV.

Finally, RAFV sponsored the Mooseheart Holiday Lights Festival, and raised $350 and donated reusable shopping bags for 500 runners who participated in the Mooseheart Child City and School Holiday 5K.

Leaders of the RAFV, which has more than 1,500 members, include: President Michael Simpson, President-elect Alison Nieto, Treasurer Paul Kempa, Secretary Lucas Albright, Immediate Past President Mark Coleman and Association Executive Chris Studebaker.
