Summer is one of the busiest times of year for REALTOR® advocacy. Across Illinois, Illinois REALTORS® Governmental Affairs Directors (GADs) and REALTOR® members have attended fundraisers, golf outings, community festivals, and local events, creating valuable opportunities to connect with elected officials and candidates.
Through RPAC, REALTORS® gain access to conversations that help educate policymakers on housing affordability, private property rights, zoning, local taxes, and other issues that directly impact our industry. Summer events provide opportunities to strengthen existing relationships while building new ones. The trust established through these interactions often leads elected officials to seek REALTOR® expertise before important decisions are made. That trusted voice is what sets REALTORS® apart from other industries.
Strong relationships are built incrementally, one conversation, one event, and one connection at a time. Every member who participates helps strengthen our collective voice and demonstrates that REALTORS® are committed partners in their communities. When RPAC investments are paired with member engagement, those relationships often lead to meaningful advocacy outcomes, including defeating harmful local ordinances, advancing policies that promote homeownership, protecting private property rights, and expanding housing opportunities.
The good news is that summer isn’t over! There are still plenty of opportunities to attend fundraisers and community events, meet local leaders, and become more involved in advocacy. If you’d like to participate, contact your local Governmental Affairs Director.
Together, through RPAC and relationship building, we can continue protecting private property rights and advancing policies that support homeownership across Illinois.
