Illinois REALTORS® Local Governmental Affairs Director Michael Dobrow was selected to represent REALTOR® interests as an active member of the Lake County Housing Task Force.
The task force, which launched over the summer and continues into the new year, brings together local government officials, developers, employers, and community advocates to identify barriers to housing development and create actionable strategies to expand housing options across income levels and life stages.
Dobrow’s appointment marks a strategic win for Illinois REALTORS® and a strong example of how GAD engagement ensures REALTOR® expertise is part of the local housing policy conversation. His participation helps elevate the REALTOR® voice in regional planning, housing affordability, and development initiatives.
Through his work on the task force, Dobrow also highlighted the findings of the Lake County Housing Report and the Lake County Housing Policy Brief, which examine local housing supply, affordability gaps, and policy solutions. His advocacy also helped draw attention to key obstacles, such as zoning constraints, development costs, and regulatory barriers, that limit new housing opportunities.
The mission is to make housing attainable. The coalition’s recommendations, expected early next year, will help guide municipal and county policy discussions to increase housing supply and affordability throughout Lake County.
By serving on the coalition, Dobrow demonstrates how Illinois REALTORS®’ local engagement delivers results: advancing sound housing policy, promoting private property rights, and ensuring that REALTOR® perspectives help shape community solutions.
