If you are interested in obtaining an Illinois broker license, you must successfully complete the 75-hour Broker Pre-License Topics course AND the 15-hour Broker Pre-License Applied Real Estate Principles webinar or classroom course AND be 21 years of age in order to sit for the State and National real estate license exam.

75-hour Course Contents

  • Broker Pre-License Topics Online Course Materials – course materials are hosted on the Eastern Illinois University Desire 2 Learn (D2L) course platform
  • Your choice of textbook or searchable e-book: Modern Real Estate Practice in Illinois  – upon checkout, CHOOSE ONE:  Textbook  (adds S&H + tax) OR Searchable e-Book (no S&H or tax)

This course will cover information on real estate concepts, math, concepts, brokerage, real property, contracts, the Illinois Real Estate Acct of 2000, financing, property management, appraisal, use controls for government and private land, fair housing, environmental issues, closing, and the updated TILA/RESPA information.

The 75-hour course is a self-guided course with quizzes to show student participation and proficiency. You must score at least 75% on a unit quiz to advance to the next unit.  You will be able to retake unit quizzes until you are confident in your knowledge of the course work.  As of January 1, 2018, online courses no longer require a “final exam” if the course includes interactive quizzes and Student ID is verified during the course.

After completing this course, you will be ready to take the 15-Hour Broker Pre-License Applied Real Estate Principles interactive webinar, also hosted on the D2L platform.

Students must have the 75-hour course for at least 10 days before they will be processed as complete.

75-hour Course Delivery

Textbook: physical textbooks are sent via UPS on weekdays during business hours. The textbook is for those who learn best with physical materials.

E-Book:  link and access code are sent electronically on weekdays during business hours. The e-Book is a paperless study option. It is uniquely portable for people who are busy and always on the move! It is searchable, allowing you to browse for select keywords. Please note: the e-book is for students who do not require printed materials. It is not printable.


Course Materials: You will receive a separate email from EIU including your login credentials for the course materials. This email is automated from EIU every 30-45 minutes, 24 hours a day.

75-hour Course Expiration

Courses expire 180 days from the date of purchase. Students requiring longer than 180 days, but less than 365 days from the date of purchase are eligible to purchase an extension at the cost of $100. The extension period shall not exceed 90 days and may not be extended past one year from the original date of purchase. Contact for all extension requests.


15-hour Broker Pre-License Course Information

15-hour Interactive Webinar

Choose your interactive webinar date from our monthly options. We advise students to choose a webinar at least date 2-3 months out from the date of purchase to give ample time to work through the 75-hour course.

***Webinar registration closes at the end of the BUSINESS day prior to the selected dates.*** (for example, registration for a January 2-3 webinar would close at 4:30 on January 1)***

***Students are allowed one date change prior to the closing of registration at no charge. Subsequent moves will require the payment of a $15 processing fee. “No Show” students will be charged a $35 new registration fee before being registered for another date.***

15-hour Interactive Course Content

The 15-Hour Broker Pre-License Applied Real Estate Principles interactive webinar is a mandatory component of Illinois broker pre-license education. It is highly recommended that the student has completed the 75-Hour program prior to taking the 15-Hour interactive course.

15-hour Interactive Course Requirements

Students are required to be online for the entire course time and interact with poll and quiz questions. Attendance is taken throughout the webinar. If a student misses more than 15 minutes, they will be required to retake the entire 15-hour webinar.

All webinars start promptly at 9:00 a.m. both days. End time is 4:00 – 4:30 p.m. both days.  The instructor will announce breaks and lunch period during each day’s session.

15-hour Interactive Course Delivery

On the day of purchase, students will receive an email from Eastern Illinois University, a partner of the Illinois REALTORS® Licensing & Training Center with a username and password along with instructions to log into the D2L system (webinar platform).

Five days prior to the webinar, you will receive an email from Illinois REALTORS® with further information about accessing the online rooms and coursework.  The course materials will not be available until five days prior to the course start date. All materials can be downloaded and/or printed once the course is open.

Equipment Needed

You must use a computer with a strong internet signal. You will be able communicate with the instructor through a chat feature.

15-hour Interactive Course Expiration

The course closes 30 days after the conclusion of the webinar.  You will receive exact dates during the live Q&A.

Course Date Changes

Students are allowed one date change prior to the closing of registration at no charge. Subsequent moves will require the payment of a $15 processing fee. “No Show” students will be charted a $35 new registration fee before being registered for another date. Webinar registrations will be honored for 12 months FROM DATE OF PURCHASE i.e.) purchasing a webinar in January 2019 gives participants until January 2020 to complete the webinar without repurchasing.
