Earn the GRI designation online:

GRI is the premier nationally-recognized real estate designation – a lifetime designation with no renewal fees. The 60 hours of in-depth training includes technology, finance, client systems, and ethics courses.  Earn CE credit for most courses, plus earn CRS and e-PRO designation credits as part of your GRI studies!  The Rich Port Scholarship is available to students pursuing their GRI designation.

You will get automatic credit for any core, ethics and e-PRO courses you have taken through the Illinois REALTORS® Licensing & Training Center in the past five years.

Minimum Requirements

All courses except e-Pro must be purchased from Illinois REALTORS®.

All courses must be completed within a five year period.

A total of 60 hours of credits must be earned, including minimum credit hours in the six areas detailed below.

Courses listed in red are currently inactive as we transfer to an updated platform that will be live on September 1, 2018. You may still begin the GRI designation process by completing any of the other requirements listed. If you have questions about the process, feel free to contact us at

When coursework is complete, submit the GRI Request form.

GRI Course Credit Requirements

I.   GRI prerequisites = 30 hours

II.   GRI mandatory courses = 12 hours

III.  Ethics courses = 3 hours

IV.  Client systems courses = 6 hours

  • Successful Buyer Client Systems (3-hours – RD 909 ) + CRS Credit
  • Successful Seller Client Systems (3 hours – no CE) + CRS Credit
  • Meeting the Needs of Buyers and Sellers (3 hours – no CE) + CRS Credit

V.   Finance courses = 3 hours

  • 3-hour course Real Estate Investment Made Clear (no CE) + CRS Credit

VI.  Technology courses = 6 hours

MRP Designation

The Military Relocation Professional (MRP) certification is for real estate professionals who want to work with current and former military service members. The MRP certification program educates REALTORS® about working with U.S. service members and their families and veterans to find the housing solutions that best suit their needs and to take full advantage of available benefits and support.
