How to earn an Illinois real estate broker license
Take pre-license courses: You need to complete 90 credit hours: Broker Pre-License Topics (75-hours) and Broker Pre-License Applied Real Estate Principles (15-hours, interactive).

State and National Exam: After you’ve completed your coursework, review the Illinois Real Estate Examination Program Candidate Handbook and register for the state and national licensing exam. Prepare for the exam with exam preparation from our partners, RECampus QBank and ExamSmart.
Sponsorship and Application: Once you have a managing broker to sponsor you, you may submit an application for license to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
To maintain your broker license, you will need to complete post-license education during your first renewal cycle and continuing education in subsequent renewal cycles. See the Renewal page for more information.
