Although the interest in specific real estate issues may have varied from community to community in Illinois during 2018, Illinois REALTORS® local governmental affairs directors (GADs) identified a few common success themes in videos shown during Public Policy Meetings in late January.
Local REALTORS® who worked with GADs helped achieve positive outcomes when:
- their community involvement added credibility to their opinions,
- they concisely communicated community-wide benefits or disadvantages on a subject to elected officials,
- they easily explained pros and cons of complex subjects to voters,
- large numbers of local REALTORS® show united support or opposition to an idea.
