Springfield’s mayoral candidates will face off in a March 12 debate at the association’s headquarters.

The debate, which will be 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 12, will be between candidates Jim Langfelder and Paul Palazzolo. Both advanced to the April 7 election after becoming the top two vote getters in the Feb. 24 primary.

The debate is sponsored by IAR, the Capital Area REALTORS® and the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Moderating the event will be State Journal-Register Political Writer Bernie Schoenburg and WUIS Statehouse Bureau Chief Amanda Vinicky.

Langfelder has been the Springfield City Treasurer since 2003, having won elections in 2003, 2007 and 2011.

Palazzolo has been the Sangamon County Auditor since 2002, having won elections in 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. March 12 for the debate. IAR’s headquarters is located at 522 S. Fifth St. in Springfield.
