Good Neighbor Award InfographicEach year, five Good Neighbor Award winners receive $10,000 grants for their nonprofit organization, and five honorable mentions receive $2,500. Good Neighbor stories and videos generate local, state and national media attention, which helps the organizations gain more volunteers and receive more donations. In 2018, a pair of Illinois REALTORS® received honorable mentions for their efforts: Chicago REALTOR® Michael LaFargue and Naperville REALTOR® Jack Persin.

LaFargue, of Coldwell Banker Residential in Chicago, helped the West Chesterfield Community Association and the Red Line Extension Coalition with the $2,500 he received for his honorable mention and an additional $2,500 as the Web Choice winner. Persin, of Baird & Warner in Naperville, helped secure $2,500 for Naperville Responds for Veterans.

Over the last 20 years, the Good Neighbor Award program has granted $1.3 million to REALTOR®-led nonprofit organizations. More than 200 organizations in 40 states and Puerto Rico have been helped. For more information, go to: nar.realtor/gna.
