Members of the REALTOR® Association of Southwestern Illinois (RASI) participated in a mid-July community recycling event in Shiloh, collecting 11 full-sized boxes of electronics.

PCs for People, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a location in Belleville, Ill., recycled the electronics.

Founded in 1998, PCs for People is a national leader in digital inclusion. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, every project, program and initiative focuses on getting low-cost computers and affordable broadband internet into the homes of low-income individuals. It has provided 155,000 people with home computers, connected 165,000 people to low-cost internet and recycled more than eight million pounds of electronics.

The File Room, of Earth City, Mo., offered secure document shredding services during the RASI recycling event, too.

PCs for People will host its next recycling drive from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Fri., July 30 at its Belleville office. RASI will host another recycling event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tues., Oct. 26.
