Quality rental housing and multifamily development have played important roles in the growth of Romeoville, Romeoville Mayor John Noak told REALTORS® Thursday in Joliet.

Noak was the guest speaker during the Three Rivers Association of REALTORS® (TRAR) Governmental Affairs Committee meeting at the association’s offices. Approximately 25 members were in attendance.

Noak provided REALTORS® with an update on several major infrastructure and transportation improvement projects, including the development around the Interstate 55 interchange at Weber Road and the status of new Metra station in Romeoville. Within a few weeks of opening, the Metra station was so well received by residents that parking was expanded to help meet demand.

Founded in the 1830s, the village of Romeoville is 26 miles southwest of Chicago in Will County. It’s home to approximately 40,000 residents. Noak is in his third term as mayor.

TRAR serves more than 1,000 REALTORS® and affiliate members across several counties in northeastern Illinois south of Chicago. It is led by Chief Executive Officer David McClintock, President Judy Panozzo, President-elect Joyce Zelazik, Treasurer-Secretary Eddie Ruettiger and Immediate Past President Ken Pytlewski.
