Rep. Mike Unes speaks to Illinois REALTORS® in East Peoria

Illinois REALTORS® can have a real impact on the political debates in Springfield and locally, said state Rep. Mike Unes, R-East Peoria, on Wednesday at IAR Public Policy Meetings in East Peoria.

“Now more than ever it is truly important for all of you to get involved and stay involved,” he said.

“There really is power in numbers,” Unes said. “I have seen so many bills that look like it is going down the track and there is absolutely no way it can be stopped and suddenly out of nowhere there is a group that has come together and with the power of numbers, can put the emergency brakes on and halt it.”

Despite Illinois’ looming budget issues, Unes said that as he begins his third term in the Illinois House, there is a sense of optimism on both sides of the aisle in Springfield.

Illinois REALTORS® are in East Peoria this week to talk about the legislative and advocacy issues affecting the industry.

Unes was a guest at the RVOICE & Local Government Forum. During the forum, Assistant Director of RVOICE and Local Advocacy Mike Scobey reminded that the RVOICE advocacy efforts also benefit consumers by lobbying for Illinois property owners, being a source of information and working to better local communities.
