Following the National Association of REALTORS® all-member alert earlier this week about an email scam, the association is sharing law enforcement guidance on ways to prevent scammers from victimizing members and their clients.

Three ideas shared by the FBI:

  • Verify all requests for a change in payment type or location,
  • Be wary of communication conducted exclusively by email,
  • Establish code phrases that can be used to verify key contacts such as clients, financial institutions and real estate agents.
