HUD Secretary: “Robo-signing” settlement to be filed
In a stop in Chicago this week, Shaun Donovan, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) said the $25 billion multi-state mortgage settlement could be filed this week, leaving states and the nation’s top banks to begin the process of identifying potentially eligible homeowners, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Rockford home sales rise in February
February home sales rose in the Rockford area for the ninth straight month. Of the 213 homes sold, approximately half of those were either a short sale or a foreclosure, WIFR reports.

Rockford Area REALTORS® CEO Steve Bois credits the increase in consumer confidence as one of the reasons for the increase in home buyers and says the warm weather should only help move more houses off the market.
