A number of Illinois REALTORS® flew to Washington, D.C. this week to learn how to be effective in their roles as Federal Political Coordinators (FPC) to members of the U.S. Congress.

“It is always inspiring to take training in Washington D.C. in the heart of where important decisions are made,” said Rolling Meadows area REALTOR® Kinga Korpacz, broker-owner of Exit Realty Redefined. “We were invited to come one day earlier and attend NAR policy meetings to hear first hand the issues our economy faces. That helped us understand the important role we play as FPCs. I also felt mesmerized and humbled by the speakers.”

Illinois REALTORS® has one FPC for every U.S. Senator from Illinois and every member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Learn more about this program. Those who traveled to Washington, D.C., she said, learned about: the importance of RPAC funds, how the money is distributed, how to become valuable resources for members of Congress, available NAR tools and best practices. Retired Congressman Pete Sessions spoke on his experiences with his FPC.

FPCs attending included: Tommy Choi, Korpacz, Carrie Little, Nykea Pippion McGriff, Matt Persicketti and Tracey Williams.

“I am very proud and humbled for the opportunity to be appointed to such an elite group and to serve as FPC for Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi,” Korpacz said. “I see the impact REALTORS® have on the American Dream and that our work expands beyond home sales. We help protect and fight for private homeowners rights. I am also very grateful that I can be part of that.”

Illinois REALTORS® relies on FPCs to help protect the real estate industry. They stay in touch throughout the year in the members’ home districts and during visits to Capitol Hill.
