The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) revealed plans Wednesday to warn members when physical or cyber threats to REALTORS® require national attention.

Members can alert the REALTOR® Safety Network by filling out an online form or by calling the NAR Member Support Team via its toll-free number, 1-800-874-6500, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday. The support team will evaluate the submitted information and decide when nationwide REALTOR® Safety Alerts should be issued.

For example, safety alerts can be issued when:

  • a pattern of assaults against REALTORS® is reported,
  • a REALTOR® or an immediate family member of a REALTOR® goes missing or
  • an association name or the names of association programs are used to fraudulently collect money or information.

NAR urges members to contact local law enforcement during emergencies and follow-up through the REALTOR® Safety Network, if appropriate.

In circumstances when a national alert is not implemented, the REALTOR® Safety Team will make sure the local association is informed.
