Good news for homebuyers and owners seeking to refinance, fixed mortgage rates moved lower for the fourth consecutive week and continued to support the ongoing housing recovery, Freddie Mac reported Thursday.

The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 3.40 percent, down slightly from last week’s 3.41 percent, while the 15-year rate hit an all-time record low at 2.61 percent.
