The Chicago Tribune reports today that the U.S. House voted Wednesday to extend the Mortgage Debt Forgiveness Act for one year. Now the measure, which is strongly supported by REALTORS® and provides an income tax break to homeowners for mortgage debt forgiven in a short sale, heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
