The House Judiciary-Civil Law Committee may address Rent Control legislation in a Wednesday morning meeting, according to the March 22 Illinois REALTORS® State Capitol Report.

Last week was busy at the Capitol in both the Senate and the House. Friday marked the deadline for Senate bills to be heard in Senate committees. Key action occurred in the House Counties and Townships Committee as the committee unanimously approved House Bill 2206 – the Local Government Residential Inspection Act. We STRONGLY supported that bill, which was sponsored by REALTOR® and Rep. Sam Yingling.  Other issues acted upon included bills regarding local governments, defeat of the bill to double a recording fee and a bill regarding a community water supply’s lead service line replacement.

This Friday (March 29) is the deadline for House bills to be heard in House committee. Both chambers are in session this week.
