Two leaders who have worked well with REALTORS® will assume the top positions at the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)pending Illinois Senate approval. 

Director of the Division of Real Estate Mario Treto Jr. has been appointed Acting Secretary of the IDFPR to replace the current IDFPR Secretary Deborah Hagan who is retiring.  Laurie Murphy has been promoted to replace Treto as the Acting Director of the Division of Real Estate.   

Laurie’s experience as a managing broker, combined with her diplomatic skill set and concern for appropriate regulation, provide just the right balance and expertise for her new position,” said Betsy UrbanceGeneral Counsel and Vice President of Legal Services for Illinois REALTORS® 

I have worked closely with her on matters of utmost importance to our constituents,” Urbance said. She’s helped craft regulations that allow the industry to progress with improved technology, maintained strong consumer protections and provided solid educational requirements for real estate licensees.
