When it comes to supporting local charities during the holiday season, members of the Kankakee-Iroquois-Ford Association of REALTORS® (KIFAR) annually do it through their association. And this year is no exception.

When KIFAR gathers for its Christmas party on Dec. 18, President Cindy Schimmel will lead members in a charity auction that will include ticketed items and a silent auction. The goal for the organization is to raise between $3,000 and $4,500.  The proceeds will be divided among five local charities, including the Salvation Army Food Pantry, a local hospice and Harbor House (an organization that helps victims of domestic violence by providing housing and goods).

In the coming weeks, KIFAR members will secure donations for the auction.

Schimmel, a Coldwell Banker Residential Broker in Bradley, says she is always pleasantly surprised by the generosity of volunteers who spend countless hours preparing for the event. “We enjoy supporting the charities in our communities,” she says. “Our members have big hearts.”

Other KIFAR officers include: President-Elect Christine Wilbur of Bradley, Treasurer Leanne Provost of Bourbonnais, Secretary Don St. Germaine of Bonfield and Association Executive Connie Legris of Kankakee.
