The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently changed its guidance for fully vaccinated people recommending (not mandating) that they wear a mask when indoors in areas experiencing substantial or high COVID-19 transmission. Go here to check your area. As a result, Illinois REALTORS® recommends that members follow this guidance which has been echoed by the state of Illinois, and check for any additional recommendations in their cities and counties as well as within their own brokerage companies.

Members must also remember to consistently follow their sellers’ directions for open houses and showings, according to Illinois REALTORS® General Counsel Betsy Urbance. In other words, if a seller requires that masks be worn for showings, everyone who can do so must wear a mask. This guidance remains the same regardless of the new CDC guidance.
