REALTORS® around the state continue to celebrate the Illinois Bicentennial, as the state held its official 200th birthday party at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Navy Pier in Chicago.

Former Chicago newsman Bill Kurtis hosted the festivities from the Aon Ballroom, with Gov. Bruce Rauner and Gov.-elect J.B. Pritzker scheduled to appear. Military veterans will be recognized, as will celebrities from fields of sports, music, entertainment and culture.

Actors Joe Mantenga and George Wendt, Hamilton’s Miguel Cervantes, REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin and Blues legend Buddy Guy will perform, and Olympic athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee will appear during a tribute to great Illinois sports performances. Find out more here.

Earlier this year, local REALTOR® associations partnered with local historical organizations and museums on more than 30 legacy projects to preserve, maintain and promote history. The state association also donated the use of land in downtown Springfield — now known as Bicentennial Plaza – a REALTOR® Community Partnership — that will help link some historical properties there, including the Lincoln Home and the newly-renovated Illinois Governor’s Mansion and the Illinois State Capitol.

Congratulations Illinois!
