718658It’s time to head home for Thanksgiving! I’ll be joining the legions on the road traveling over the river and through the woods to my grandmother’s home town in Wisconsin where my mom and her seven siblings, their kids and grandkids will gather just to be together. And eat turkey. And watch some football.

We have our very own Abraham Lincoln to thank for making this tradition a national holiday in 1863. According to the Census Bureau, “President Franklin Roosevelt later clarified that Thanksgiving should always be celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the month to encourage earlier holiday shopping, never on the occasional fifth Thursday.”

For many like me it’s a favorite holiday. There will be no gifts. Just time spent at home around the table catching up on this busy and bumpy life.

For the REALTORS® who are on the road every day working hard to make home possible for so many people, we thank you!

Safe travels everyone!
