Numerous members of the Heartland REALTOR® Organization met with three state senators representing different parts of Crystal Lake and a McHenry County Board member representing the northeast portion of the county.

The Heartland Government Affairs and RPAC Committee attended a joint town hall meeting hosted by Illinois Senate Minority Leader Dan McConchie, State Sen. Craig Wilcox and State Sen. Don DeWitte. The senators provided an update on the State of the State and REALTORS® discussed their property tax and infrastructure concerns.

Among those who attended were Illinois REALTORS® President Sue Miller of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group in McHenry, State Legislative Contact Michael Simpson of Baird & Warner Real Estate in Algonquin, Kevin Kalbach of Realty Executives Cornerstone of Crystal Lake, Heartland CEO Jim Haisler, Illinois REALTORS® Local Governmental Affairs Director Neeley Erickson, affiliate member Katie O’Neill of Heritage Title in Crystal Lake and McHenry County Board Member Pam Althoff, who is a former state senator, too.

Members of the two Heartland committees met separately with Althoff earlier in the day. They discussed the current housing market, area infrastructure needs and housing affordability challenges within the community.

Heartland represents the interests of more than 1,000 members. Its leaders include CEO Jim Haisler, President Erin Dierks, President-elect Tim Sebastian, Treasurer Karen Conley and Immediate Past President Kelly Simpson. Heartland’s office is in Crystal Lake.
