T.J. Augustine of the University of Illinois and David Conroy of CRT Labs/NAR will be the featured speakers next Tuesday at the Illinois REALTORS® Public Policy Meetings in East Peoria.

Augustine, Associate Vice President for the University of Illinois’ Office of Economic Development & Innovation, will explain the University System and educate REALTORS® who do business with international clients on the value it brings to both state and local economic development and to the investors and buyers that choose Illinois. He is responsible for strategic planning of international initiatives for emerging technology and fostering public-private partnerships between those who create and invest in innovative technology.

Conroy is an engineer at CRT Labs, which is a technology research arm of the National Association of REALTORS®. He will explain the differences between cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and the underlying technology known as blockchain. He will then share how these emerging technologies are impacting the future and the way that properties will be transacted and recorded both internationally and domestically.

The Global Business Council is scheduled to meet from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Embassy Suites East Peoria.
