An estimated 2.3 million U.S. children in single-family homes have lost their homes to foreclosures and the homes of another 3 million are at serious risk, according to the Brookings Institution’s study, “The Ongoing Impact of Foreclosures on Children.” Add to that another 3 million children who have been, or are at risk of being evicted from rental properties and the negative impact of the foreclosure crisis becomes more clear.
