Illinois REALTORS® learn about federal housing policy talking points as they prepare for several days of meetings with lawmakers in Washington, D.C. The session was led by IAR's Sharon Gorrell, housing policy advisor.

IAR has members who serve as liaisons with congressional representatives, and this special group of people gathered for a kickoff Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Washington, D.C.

The meeting covered a variety of issues of interest to REALTOR® members, including urging passage of the Marketplace Fairness Act and the extension of the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act.

Housing Policy Advisor Sharon Gorrell and Dan Blair, a lobbyist for the National Association of REALTORS®, answered questions and provided the overview to a packed room.

On Wednesday and Thursday, IAR members will be meeting with congressional representatives to talk about housing policy. Wednesday morning kicks off with an invitation-only breakfast with U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin.
