More than a dozen REALTORS® earned Core B continuing education credits Tuesday during, “Legal Issues: A Guide to Reasonable Accommodations,” at the Illinois REALTORS® Plaza in Springfield.

Lon Melteson, fair housing manager of the Illinois Department of Human Rights, taught the class. He’s also served as the department’s chief legal counsel and as a staff attorney.

The course was sponsored by Illinois REALTORS® and Capital Area REALTORS®.

The Illinois Department of Human Rights administers the Illinois Human Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination in Illinois with respect to employment, financial credit, public accommodations, housing and sexual harassment, as well as sexual harassment in education. Last year, the department released its “Guidebook on Reasonable Accommodations” as the nation observed the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act.
