Illinois REALTORS® continued its Let’s Talk Real Estate series with federal legislators Friday, hosting U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis of Taylorville and REALTORS® from his congressional district.

“Let your voice be heard,” said Davis, in reference to Central and Southwestern Illinois concerns. “That allows us to have a better voice in Congress.”

Illinois REALTORS® Federal Political Coordinator Max Mitchell (RE/MAX Realty Associates of Champaign) facilitated discussion between Davis and about 20 REALTORS® about the National Flood Insurance Program, government-sponsored enterprises like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, health insurance, tax reform, infrastructure and transportation. REALTORS® from Springfield, Champaign-Urbana, Bloomington and Godfrey areas attended.

Davis represents Illinois’ 13th District, which includes 14 counties in Central and Southwestern Illinois. He serves on three committees and four subcommittees:

  • House Committee on Agriculture,
  • Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture and Research,
  • Subcommittee on Nutrition,
  • House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure,
  • Subcommittee on Highways and Transit,
  • Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials and
  • Committee on House Administration.

He’s served the district since 2013.

Neil Malone, director of grassroots and political programs, noted that Friday’s event is the ninth in a series of 18 Let’s Talk Real Estate events this year. Next week, four more events are scheduled with U.S. Reps. Brad Schneider, Jan Schakowsky, Cheri Bustos and Adam Kinzinger. September meetings will include U.S. Reps. Bill Foster, Bobby Rush and Darin LaHood.
