Construction continues at Bicentennial Plaza — a REALTOR® Community Partnership in Springfield following a summer heat wave that buckled pavement on Interstate 55 several miles north of the city.

Workers planted hydrangeas in bedded areas of the plaza and installed several of the historical information panels along the brick walkway. Crews continue to work toward completion of the project by the Aug. 26 dedication ceremony. It is one of many ways REALTORS® are helping to celebrate the state’s anniversary from Chicago to Cairo and Freeport to O’Fallon. Visit the Illinois REALTORS® Bicentennial page for more information about the ways REALTORS® are working with heart in every community.

For five straight days, temperatures in Springfield reached the 90s with humidity causing temperatures to feel like more than 100 degrees. Following Tuesday evening storms Wednesday temperatures are predicted to reach the mid-80s.
