Make yourself more valuable to clients during the sales process by sharing resources for energy saving in homes, such as a new project led by the U.S. Department of Energy, “Better Buildings Home Energy Information Accelerator.”

The Department of Energy is seeking to expand homeowner awareness, streamline processes and improve communication with homeowners by involving real estate, government, energy efficiency and other professionals. Partners in the project so far include Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED), the Appraisal Institute, CoreLogic, the Council of Multiple Listing Services, the Real Estate Standards organization, the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity and the U.S. Green Building Council.

By making the information more accessible to home buyers, the Department of Energy hopes that more homeowners will implement energy-saving measures, reduce the carbon emissions needed to produce the energy, reduce pollution and improve quality of life in American communities. Water conservation is also part of the program.
