Evanston native Emery Moorehead played tight end and wide receiver for 12 seasons in the National Football League for the New York Giants, Denver Broncos, and the Chicago Bears. He won a Super Bowl ring as the starting tight end and a member of the 1985 Chicago Bears. Today he is a successful real estate agent with Koenig & Strey Real Living in Lake Forest and leads the North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS® as its chairman of the board.

1. What lessons from the football field translate to success in real estate? Emery: Be on time, out work your competition and pay attention to detail.

2. What are your predictions for the 2011 housing market? Emery: Prices will continue to decline slightly although not at the accelerated pace of the past three years.

3. How have you been preparing in the “off season” for the spring housing market? Emery: Working to get prices down with current sellers. Updating sellers more frequently about the local market and educating future sellers about current conditions. With my buyers I’m patient to ensure they get the right home at the right price.

4. What will be the key to victory for the Bears/Packers NFC Championship game this weekend? Emery: A decent running game, limit the turnovers, and control the clock on offense and run the Cover 2 to perfection. Don’t let the receiver get many yards after the catch and create some turnovers on defense. A turnover and or a touchdown on special teams would for sure help the Bears win on Sunday.
