On Tuesday afternoon, members of the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate began the Spring Session at the State Capitol in Springfield, with scheduled hearings on 50 bills.

In addition to the bills, issues garnering the attention of both parties are upcoming primaries, budget negotiations for next fiscal year and the governor’s amendatory veto of 2017 legislation to change school funding. See article on NPRIllinois.org.

Today’s activities precede Gov. Bruce Rauner’s 2018 State of the State Address Wednesday. See preview article on thesouthern.com.
